Liquid Image’s Scuba Diving mask with a digital/video camera built in. You no longer have to lug your video camera with you underwater. This is a bright idea. Why didn’t anyone else think of building a full featured camcorder/camera into the mask? Introduced at last year’s CES, the first units are just about to hit the market. Starting at just $99, the entry level model is for kids, families, and snorklers. It is good to about a 15 foot depth.
Small waterproof buttons on top let you easily select the various modes as well as start and stop the camcorder. The mask lens has an etched pattern to make it the camera simple to aim. The entry level unit comes with 16 Mb of internal memory and can use up to a 2GB MicroSD card. It records digital stills at 2560×1920 pixels and 640×480 VGA video. The higher priced models are targeted to scuba divers as well as underwater professionals.
